==[ Voodoo Lounge — Greenwich Village ]==
One must descend a flight of black slate stairs flanked by walls papered in rock concert programs before discovering…
This is no ordinary urban mecca. This is no sports bar, no yuppie hipster watering hole. This… is the famed Voodoo Lounge. The lights are recessed into the wall, and of a golden hue, dimmed low enough that one can see where one is going, but still be able to consider the atmosphere intimate. People more than a dozen feet away will appear as mere shadows until one is right up on them. The walls are paneled in mahogany wood. The bar, that travels down the left side of the room is teak with a black marble top, polished to a fare-thee-well. Taps are visible just past the lip of the countertop. There's a recess in it so that a bartender can slide drinks to the waiting patrons. Behind the bar, the expected mirror — this one beveled on the edges. Glasses and more elaborate drinkware hangs upside down from a wooden rack above.
The barstools appear to be leather and wood, but they are reinforced to handle patrons of superhuman size. The floor is carpeted in plush brown carpet, thick enough to sink into, though nothing seems to ever reach it if anything is spilled. There are cozy tables and booths clustered at the front and back of the room. A long, thickly stuffed leather sofa, also in brown, is along the entire front wall and side wall. A hidden moving light casts random shapes and sigils around the room in muted hues — slowly enough so it's ambience-enhancing rather than disorienting. Potted palms flank the door and stand in the corners. There are hanging plants above the tables, leaves dripping lazily down toward the floor, but not enough to impede anyone there. Carefully hidden speakers pipe music into the room that varies from the contemporary to the exotic. There is no television behind the bar. The back wall has a floor-to-ceiling fountain that trickles away serenely. A few feet in front of the back wall is a modest stage, also set with small tables if there's no one performing. The entire vibe is like someone set a bar in a cozy little alcove in some exotic place far removed from New York City.

As was reported in the papers, a few days ago the Moon Maiden and Black Canary battled some sort of giant, glass humanoid in Battery Park. What wasn't reported was that the monster seemed to be formed around a strange, smooth stone with Native American markings. Laurel secured the stone and made sure it was safely tucked away until she could identify an occult expert who might be of assistance. Her contacts led her here, to the Voodoo Lounge.

As soon as she steps through it is clear the Moon Maiden is not an ordinary customer. For one thing, there's her Roman-esque battle armor. For another, the wards and identifying spells will peg her as… strange. Human but at the same time an artifically constructed bit of alchemical magic. Ancient alchemy, older than the styles currently being practiced.

Either way, the Moon Maiden gets attention.

And behind the bar is the woman in question. She is leaning over it chatting with one of the customers that have come in on this late afternoon. She senses the strangeness coming from the woman before she looks up to wave the woman to take a seat at the bar "Welcome." she says in her accented tones "I would offer you a drink but I get the suspicion that is not what you came in for.

"No." Moon Maiden takes the offered seat, moving smoothly onto the stool. There's a brief sparkling light as her skirt pushes itself down for modesty, seemingly of it's own accord. "I've been told there's someone here who can help me. I've come across an artifact from one of the local Native American tribes. I would like to return it to the descendants of the tribe but it has a dangerous enchantment on it. So, I need that nuetralized first."

"Well you have been told correctly. These is someone who could give you a hand with something like that." Topaz looks curiously at the woman as she leans against the bar, "I am curious as to where you got this bit of information from though. Or is it one of those sources that you prefer to remain unknown?

"I know a person who knows a person who said that Topaz is the woman to help in situations like this." Moon Maiden says. She reaches into a small pocket on her armor and draws out a wooden box. "Not only was she skilled and powerful enough but she'd actually care enough to do so." She sets the box down on the bar surface. "I hope you can help me."

Topaz smiles at the explanation "Well please give this person who knows a person my thanks for such kind words." she holds her palms upwards and gives a slight nod of her head for the praise. When the box is set down she lifts the lid and looks at the stone sitting within. There is a long moment of silence as she wraps her magical senses around it and she quickly shuts the box, keeping her hand on the top "That is what one would call a 'nasty peice of work'.

"From what I saw in the field, it draws glass from the surrounding area and creates a rampaging golem of some sort." Laurel sighs softly. "I don't know if this was the original intent and it has been warped by age or if this was designed to battle Europeans using a material that the Native Americand didn't have themselves… but it is too dangerous. It has to be disenchanted."

Her hand stays on the top of the box "And you fought this golem? This was inside of it?" she taps the top of the box with a perfectly manicured fingernail "You were right to bring it to me. Such artifacts must be dealt with and not be allowed to wander freely amoung those without the knowledge of proper handling."

Laurel nods an affirmative to the question. "With the help of a woman named Black Canary. A crimefighter from Gotham. We stopped the golem and this was inside. Even worse than that artificat not being allowed to wander freely? That artifact in the wrong hands. Hands that know how to use it to full potential. Can you deactivate it?"

Topaz nods in agreement "That would also be bad. It will take some time." Topaz lifts the lid to look at the cube once more "Golem magic is tricky and leans more into the divine side of things then I am used to dealing with." she gives a nod of affirmation, "I can do this. I will need to keep it for awhile of course.

"Of course. I'll trust you to take good care of it." Laurel says. Though she doesn't leave it there. Instead, she draws a business card from the pocket that contained the box. "If there is a problem, though, please call me immediately. This is my private line."

"It could not be in safer hands." the business card is eyed a moment, as if the concept was foreign to the woman, but she finally takes it and puts in the most conveinent spot since she doesn't have pockets, her clevage. The box is picked up between her palms, and with a quick word and the pushing together of her palms is disappears. While the show of magic is blatant the nearby customers seem oblivious to it. "Let's hope there is not a problem and I only need to call when I am done.

Laurel rises to her feet. "I am confident you will be able to handle the task at hand." She smiles brightly. "And if you ever need my help, you can call me. That card isn't just for emergencies. If I can help, I will. I'll let you get back to your business now, though. Thank you, Topaz."

While Topaz never has plans to get into situations she can't get herself out of, sometimes things happen "You are welcome here anytime." she gives another nod of her head "Namaste.
