I hate cosmic Stuff
Jack Harrison was born in the late 80's, into a family that was still holding onto the cold war and the Reagan era before the wall came down. Not yet ready for Clinton and globalization and a fan of older generation post-modern music, he believed America would prevail as a dominant world leader. Through self interest and study, by the time Captain American returned (9/11), he was a proverbial fanboy. Having collected old WW2 trading cards featuring the hero and his sidekick.
With his brother, Drake, the formed a neighborhood patrol program called Stars and Stripes. Networking with other like minded individuals and establishing a ham-radio network to keep tabs on various police monitors - similar to a 'Real World Super Hero' movement, where normal people try to 'fight' crime by wearing costumes despite having no real powers.
As bad luck would have it, the terrorist organization known as Kobra used his hometown as a hidden location from which to operate. Trying to track them down and infiltrate them, he learns they have bribed the police and tries to do it alone. In a fight with a armor wearing Kobra operative, he is bitten, injected with a venom and his back is broken. Little did he know, the venom would mingle with his blood and target certain genes. This would start a reaction that would not come to fruition until years later.
Jack then went into retirement. Time would pass and he heard about trouble. This would land him in hot water. He had a reputation as a vigilante and being confined to a wheelchair makes for escape fail. When he finds himself between the trouble and the police he too is arrested and charged. He was convicted and sentenced to 10 years in prison. In route, his transport was raided by Kobra operatives and he was taken to a secret location in the great white north that is known as Canada where they wanted to get revenge. A Kobra scientist discovered that Jack was unique in unknown ways and suddenly the Spectre's curse was lifted and Jack became super powered as well as healed from his broken back. He would wage war on the Kobra cell and emerge in an arctic forest. He realized he had no idea where he was and proceeded to try and walk out.
While walking through the snow covered forest, Jack noticed a UFO descending several hundred yards ahead of him. By the time he arrived at the location, the occupants of the ship had already departed. Through luck he was able to get into the ship and began snooping around. In a matter of minutes he accidentally triggered the ship's autopilot and was spirited away into deep space where he realized he was no longer in Kansas any longer.
When he dropped out of hyperspace his eyes were filled with a massive space battle between two starships. Both ships destroyed one another and in the subsequent blasts, his own ship was damaged. Jack knew it was over. He felt that he was doomed to drift through space until he froze to death. Instead, he was rescued by a rag-tag group of freedom fighters called the Guardians of the Galaxy. Learning that he had powers, they took him on a mission and decided to invite him to join their group. Eventually he would grow homesick and decided to return to Earth where new adventures would begin.
America!
Jack believes in the traditional 'American heroic values' - Truth, Justice, and probably Capitalism. To the extent that hard work should pay off, if one is honest in the work. Which means down with criminals and bad guys and liars and cheaters.
Fanboy!
Go Captain and the good guys. Forget he is full on super powered these days, probably able to stand toe to with his idols. No one does it like the Captain! He'll gladly trade for memorabilia with Agent Coulson, if anyone was curious - and if Coulson was actually trading.
Protector
Friends, Families, the Little Guy. He'll put his neck out there, and literally has, trying to protect those things he believes in. While anyone who is similarly trying to do an honest living, following the laws, being upstanding and such is under his protection whether they ask or not, his friends get a little bit of that extra mile from him. Good thing he is Brick in all sense of the word.
Motivation
His American fanaticism has become an Earth fanaticism and while being stationed/tied in with/assigned Earth as a base of operations, anything that threatens earth and its inhabitants from a cosmic stand point (aliens, etc.) is going down. He's trying to accept the diversity of Earthlings themselves in the same process and in part, worried about being a fugitive, which could lead to deals with people like SHIELD and SWORD for his commitment to giving assistance.
Goals
He honestly wants to live the American life. Wife, monogamy, kids, a pet, white picket fence, good job, honest living. That and kick alien butt off the planet. As the group is stationed near NYC in some context, that is his goal. Of course, anyone threatening world peace and the stability of Earthlings might get a calling on too from Jack and his current team just the same. If others can't answer the call, he doesn't mind picking up that slack.
Super Strength
As an enhanced mutate - Jack is now able to lift in excess of 70 tons easily. This puts him in the higher end of brick ranges, but not the extremely outstanding such as Hulk or Superman. Equivalents would include James Proudstar (if/when he ever exists here), Colossus, or Ch'od of the Starjammers. Not to imply they do or will or might exist in this continuum but comparable similar(s) that might be more 'known' at least.
Durability
Not only is he strong, but he can maintain displays of his enhanced strength for extended periods of time. He could easily carry up to half the weight he could lift for 24 hours, or continuously run for that same period of time. Following such a long period, he'll slowly start to wear himself down unless he spends time recovering. However, in day to day super hero antics, this rarely comes into affect.
Resilience
His is immune to most normal diseases present on Earth and a few beyond the solar system even. Likewise he can readily take more damage than an average human, up to the force of a tank shell without taking damage. Less durable with sustained fire, a tank could probably take him eventually, if he doesn't get up to it and rip it open first. As well, he is able to heal faster than normal. This isn't remarkable on the level of some characters, such as Wolverine, but his healing time is about 1/2 that of a normal human and he is capable of recovering from more damage than a typical human such as broken bones and collapsed lungs, with little to no medical attention.
Super Speed/Leap
He slightly more agile and this makes him able to run at speeds of up to 70 mph. This in turn also makes him capable of making super leaps based on this speed. He can leap about 40 meters when running at 70mph, and leap about half as high. If he presses himself, he might make a 50 meter gap, or about 25-30 meters vertical.
Unarmed Combat
Through his own training in martial arts and subsequently with the onset of his powers, Jack Flag is a well versed unarmed combatant. While it wouldn't quite be the realm of black belt for agility and skill level, his strength and durability readily make up for what he lacks in outright general martial skill. Though, even without his powers, he would be a tough contender for all but the most trained athletes, on earth at least.
Guardians of the Galaxy
He's a team member, in good standing, and in near constant contact with his fellows. He can easily rely on the team to support him in a great many things short of becoming a Villain. Likewise, he can call on any team member one on one if the need should arise. As much, they can rely on him just the same.
Unarmed Combat
Close to a power cause of his meta-status, he is well trained in martial arts just the same and could be competitive without the strength, resilience, and durability.
Intelligent
Ya, despite being muscles and such, he's a pretty smart guy. Never went to college or anything like that, but was able to organize a larger scale neighborhood watch group through the use of ham and short-wave radios, which he helped set up. He can figure things out mechanically given enough time, just not an aficionado of mechanics and definitely not trained. He has an analytical mind for solving things, just takes longer than the big name intellects like Stark or Richards.
Pilot
While not good at it, he is learning from his association with the Guardians. He might be able to fly an earth plane, from takeoff to landing, if he had time to study it, but piloting itself - control while flying - is something that he is learning.
America!
Despite trying to gain a worldly view of Earth, herself, Jack is still a strong believer in the American way. Hard work, truth, capitalism. Same thing with religion, he's a Christian boy at heart and while tolerant of other views, he still just doesn't get them and might even go so far as to accept someone's opinion while countering with his own. Democracy wins, Capitalism wins, old American Family values win.
Smart but Slow
He's not dense slow, but sometimes it takes him time to rationalize his thoughts. As an example, given an option to save a family member or a bus full of American Citizens, he certainly wouldn't be able to come up with a great plan to save both and, in fact, if he thinks too much on it, he could risk losing both. He'll revert to flaw1 (American) as a determinant - sorry non-American, non-Christian Earthlings, it is what it is. Go America!
The Law!
He will not willfully break the law and is not a fan of doing wrong for the greater good. Certainly he will go against things that do not seem fair - like opposing a tyrannical government even if the law says he shouldn't. This again reverts to America! He's not going to outright steal and if he actually had to, he would be the sort to try and pay it back once the mission was over. Certainly not a fan of killing or harming the innocent, this could make him slower to deal with a threat especially when in the ultimatum situation of having to choose to save some at the risk of hurting others. All around, he tries to be a good boy.
Centipedes
Just cause. He is afraid of centipedes, especially house centipedes (http://media.jsonline.com/images/155990805_HouseCentipede.jpg). So, if there happened to be a many legged alien that looked like one, that might be bad for Jack Flag.
So, long story short - Jack Harrison is some whacko that started a civvie vigilante group called Stars and Stripes. Some sort of Captain American fanboy club that helps citizens, makes up foot patrols, a 'real world super hero' movement type concept. In conjunction with this civvie group, he had his back broken and was bound to a wheelchair. He was arrested and sentenced to 10 years, federal prison, in connection to a criminal organization known as Kobra. En route to the final prison where he was to serve, the transport is hit by Kobra raiders and Jack Harrison is one of the 'freed' individuals. Along with other Kobra members also being transported to that prison.
Jack Harrison was recently scene, by few who might actually remember him, with Vance Astrovik, that 70s era astronaut returned to earth with stories of space adventures with some job called Guardians of the Galaxy. Also, he no longer needs a wheelchair it seems.
His alter ego (secret identity) - Jack Flag, a stars and stripes caped crusader, has done a few vigilante esque hero calls but nothing to stand out as a regular super hero type. Not enough to really be recognized even save by a few people that might have seen him. Jack Flag has been showing up about as long as that Jack Harrison has been spotted talked with Vance recently.

12-03-14
Rockefeller Tree Lightning was interrupted today as an unknown man 'flew' from the crowd, into the tree. Then proceeded to scale the tree. Rockettes dashed from the stage but the emcee rolled with it, giving a play by play of the scaling. Cameras broadcast the event. Police came to the tree, demanded the man climb down. He was complying when a nearby bomb exploded at a bank being robed. Nothing stolen from the bank, no culprit caught in that incident, but the police attention diverted form the man in the tree allowed him to escape. He seems like an unkown person at this time.

In the early hours of the morning on Halloween, several monster attacks around the city seemed to occur. All answered by a group calling themselves Gaurdians of the Galaxy. The first reported as some mummy attack, who was burnt to ashes according to the guardians and the second a creature from the black lagoon monster near the rivers. The second monster captured and restrained by the Guardians and turned over to proper authorities.

The Aerial View, s02e016: It Hates Astronomy
- Video Description -
Unidentified Gold Soldier Monster
(Video footage of Mongo Trooper from several angles, how it moves, how it reacts.)
Target:
Griffin Observatory, Equipment, Main Telescope
(Video of the fight with Aerial, Domino, and Jack Flag. Faces of heroes and civilians are blurred. Mongo Trooper breaks in, but attacks against civilians are incidental towards its advancing on the telescope proper.)
Identified powers:
Flight (Video footage of a rocket belt propelling him at full tilt. Measurements appear indicating max speed demonstrated, max acceleration demosntrated, an estimate of fuel capacity marked with an annotation "This value seems unreasonably small. Supertech?")
Energy Blast (Video footage of the trooper firing his blaster, measurements of how deeply it impacts concrete, metal. How long the beam fires for. How long it takes between shots.)
Teleportation(?) or Self-Destruction(!) (Video of subject disintegrating away while hurling towards impact with the ground.)
Presumed powers:
Durablity (He's big and wears armor.)
Strength (He's big and bulging with what would be muscles if standard anatomy applies.)
Suspected weaknesses:
Mirrors(?) (Blaster seems less effective on metals and reflective surfaces, affected by lenses. Measurement shows deflection where beam passes through display case. Not strictly a conventional laser, glass still breaks.)
Stupid (Did not engage in any speech, did not seem to understand plans discussed in its presence to thwart it.)

Tealboro Fire |
Overview: | A bad fire in Metropolis is brought into control by heroes |
OOC Contact: | Jack Flag. |
09/18/14 - A fuel tanker collided with a chemicals factory today in Tealsboro, what started as a five-alarm disaster was diverted when heroes converged on the scene. Among them was Stagirl working with two other identified as Justice and Jack Flag. It seems they were identified as being "Guardians" or something to that affect before they left the scene in the hands of capable first responders. Another heroine arrived to help the firefighter directly with a special suit, but quickly had to leave because of rain (Aerial).
Metro Fire
09-04-2014 A fight broke out near the Federal Reserve in Lower Manhattan when two villains, known as the Shade and Neutron, were trying to break into the Reserve building. Limited destruction was maintained to Liberty Street where the fight occurred, relative minor damage to city with some damage to vehicles on the street, several destroyed. Apparently the two meta villains had robbed a number of banks that morning as some sort of contest to see who could hit the most banks in a 3 hour time span but came to a halt as they both went for the same target, the Federal Reserve. Three heroes arrived on the scene to battle these menaces. They were Stargirl, Jack Flag and Cascade. Coming in on a wave of water, Cascade managed to cool off the nuclear radiation of Neutron while Stargirls star constructs and beams chased the shadows away from the Shade. Jack Flag seemed to help, a little, somehow.

Out of the Frying Pan |
Overview: | Pod containing deadly virus stopped by heroes in Metropolis |
OOC Contact: | Jack Flag. |
08/19/2014 - Disaster was avoided in the central business district today as an object fell from the sky. The object, later identified as some sort of space vessel, was stopped by Power Woman, Stargirl and two other heroes. As the vessel plummeted and was engaged by the heroines, attack drones were seemingly deployed. Power Woman worked to stopped the vessel while it fell, assisted by an unknown hero that used tornadoes to help buffer the fall. One heroine and Stargirl worked to stop the robots. The unidentified heroine falling with one and taking blunt force nuclear trauma/injuries in the process, she saved the surrounding area from much more damage. Stargirl harassed and guided the other robot into Power Woman's laser vision, destroying it. A hailstorm of metal was released from this devastation, the tornado hero used his tornado to catch/stop the failing metal bits.
However the crisis wasn't over, the pod was never 'opened' for fear of a contaminant. CDC, DEO, and SCU were all notified of the need to contain the pod and its contents. Crews worked into the night to contain whatever was inside of it, the pod eventually moved from the business district to an undisclosed location.

Mantis Preys on Apple |
Overview: | Giant Bug Thwarted by Heroes |
OOC Contact: | Jack Flag. |
In a voice like a croony from the 20s, megaphone and all. An internet unkown has pieced together clips from the 10-story tall preying mantis near attack on NYC, mingled with circus-era style grammophone music so it looks like an old news real and posted it, going viral for the moment.
"Mantis Preys on New York City. The bustling bub of our precious hubub, the Big Apple, almost had a bite taken out of her. Giant Preying Mantis emerges, right out of the harbor. Heros respond. Crazy guys leap from shore (footage of Jack Flag and Logan leaping from the shore out to meet the massive bug) but what's this, daring heroine flies in to save the jewel of New York. She seems to be dropping bombs (footage of some sort of concusion energy blasts from static film footage of the Bombshell flying). And whoa, look at that guy fly, (image of Mantis flinging Logan into a building a few blocks away, the only real damage to the city). He needs to work on his style if he's wants to be dancing with the stars. And talk about graffiti, what's with this guy, (Jack Flag steering laser beam eyes away from Bombshell as she blasts the massive thorax - cut to clip from above showing what looks like 'Go Americ-' scrawled on the ground, something must of interrupted the last a). That is our public education at work, chalk one up for Americ! All in a days work, and still time for a slice of apple pie!"

Storylines and Plots
Returned to earth, bounty hunters came to get me and Vance. Skrull witch captured our friends.
Met Stargirl, saved my butt, she helped us free the Guardians from Lady Martuk.
Ran into a florist in Gotham named Dinah Lance. Something special there, literally she's a meta. Like to see more of here.
Dealt with some shark problem in Metropolis.
Handled some hobos in Gotham, met Whitney and Kelley. Talked more with Whitney, tech savvy and digs space, cute kid.
Mind zotted by Despero and taken into space. Was controlled throughout this time.
Woke up two weeks later back on earth - apparently Despero used my body as a vessel for some deadly human virus to threaten to wipe out the planet and failed. Quarantined to await a possible cure - and not expose anyone else obviously
Caught up with Whitney the tech kid, made good on the space ride - she is willing to at least help with our ship. Considering its cut rate borrowed bounty hunter ship, a little fixing up will be nice.
She came back, met Stargirl even - took a look under the hood. A trip to the space junkyard is planned to figure out new parts and upgrades …
Courtney took me to So Cal, hurricane waves, started teaching me to surf. Helped out at a pier, a swell smashed a boat into it.
We went to space in search of answers on Lady Martuk, met up with Lobo. He sort of invited himself for a night over on earth.
Time off, went with Courtney to a club, apparently the Skrull have picked up their search for Guardians. Was attacked there, meet with a Jean who helped. Courtney and her seem to becoming friends fast. Seems there are wanted posters out for us now, not just selected bounty hunters looking for us.
Went to see Gary, met up with a Honeymoon Tracy - granddaughter of Dick Tracy, honest!!! She gave me her number! (her business number). Caught up some with Kyani, that guy that was there when I fell out of space.
Visiting in NYC, happened on a villain competition (Shade and Neutron), two guys betting who could rob the most banks, was about to hit the Federal Reserve in Lower Manhattan. Stargirl and I helped there, with some other water hero (Cascade).
Went after Astrid who said Lady Martuk wants to find something possibly on Earth that would help the Skrull invade other galaxies at lightning speeds - assumed to be teleportation technology of some kind. It could be lost at one of Earth's lost civilizations, they'll have to try and find it.
More news of Ming/Mongo is discovered, Jack and Courtney relay this to Jean Grey of Justice League. Its decided that Guardians might be able to help recon for Justice League with their space ship. Finally agreeing to this, Jack meets with Power Woman and Marvel Girl to finalize this idea, the ship will be fitted to easily network with Justice Leagues new solar system sensory satellite network and directly to Watchtower.
Started seeing more of Jean, might be dating, just not 'officially' indicated as such. Enjoying time with her before we blast off to Mongo.
Went to Mongo, fought some ships, we won! Eh, but we lost, sort of. Took damage, crash landed on the surface (or landed, but have no fuel to get going again). While watching over the ship, saw an object crash in the forest. It was Starfire, I helped her, but maybe too much. I don't think Jean was happy to see me helping her back to our ship … hope I didn't blotch something with her.
We worked it out, trying to build the trust there, glad she was willing to listen. Really liking this Jean.
Fuel cell from Starfire's escape pod attached to our ship and ready to go, one last mission to scout. We encountered the Prince of Arboria, discovered there is possibly some resistance to Ming on the planet that is willing to coordinate with Earth should they stand against the Emperor. We agreed to take the Prince's infant son to earth for safety, and possibly beyond Earth should Mongo's invasion prove successful.
Trying to be done with Mongo, but one of Ming's shock troops invaded the Griffin Observatory, was there with Gary cause of the space rush with the asteroids and the near earth miss. I can't escape space, I hate space stuff.
I go up with Starfire to find ship bits, get into a fight with more bounty hunters. They seem to recognize her, we'll have to keep an eye on that stuff.
More hanging out with Jean, I don't know if we're official official, but more serious, are guys and girls supposed to ask each other to be official, I'm not sure.
Met Batman in Gothom, it was awesome, fought a weird guy (Solomon Grundy), Batman hinted the Justice League might be planning a strike on Mongo, offered for us to go - it was pretty cool all around.
Can't escape Mongo, answered a distress call from Vance, both ended up teleported to Mongo. But Vance isn't Vance, its Courtney in Vance's body. Fought our way out of a slave pit/coliseum, we won't talk about the centipedes, not yet at least.
Helped flee the coliseum and outpost of Ming with Rico to the lands of the Lionmen, to seek passage further to Arboria to get Rico home.

Overview
Lady Martuk of the Skrull Armada has initiated a plot against the Guardians of the Galaxy. Her intentions, as of yet, remain veiled to the Guardians. During the Summer of 2014, she had the active galactic members imprisoned. Turning the tides on the bounty hunters that went to earth to get team members, the Guardians discovered Lady Martuk as the present culprit of this plot line
Outcomes
Adventures in July of 2014 involved the bounty hunters coming for Vance and Jack.
After Vance and Jack return to earth, bounty hunters pursue them. They play sheep, allowing themselves to be captured in order to find out why they came to get the duo. The discover Lady Martuk is after the Guardians and that the rest of the team is imprisoned at the slave mines of R'nanor.
Needing directions to the mines of R'nanor, Jack and Vance track down Jimmy the Slugg; a resident alien on Earth. In battling a giant stag beetle to remove the parasitic Jimmy form its thorax, Stargirl joins with them (saves them) and the trio heads into space.
Favoring a plan of get captured and break out, the other six members that were imprisoned are freed. The galactic bound six part ways with the 3 earth bound members as they try to find leads on why Lady Martuk would have imprisoned them.
A new bounty hunter shows up for the Guardians on Earth as they're searching for Jack (See Despero Plot). This one is a robot named Death's Head. It proves far more capable than the original three alien beings sent to capture the team. Easily defeating Vance and Stargirl, they make an escape from his ship into the dead of space.
Answers are finally sought by the Guardians, a potential galactic invasion is revealed to them. The source, Lobo, he plans to visit earth it seems.
A run in with Skrull bounty hunters at a club in New York reveals Lady Martuk has stepped up her plans to get the guardians - not just working with selected hunters but putting up the equivalent of wanted posters around the local galaxies cluster as well as a few neighboring sectors in this section of the universe.
Preparing to visit Astrid, Lobo's source, the Guardians catch her trying to flee the intergalactic space station in a neighboring sector (as defined by Guardians of Oa). Vance and Jack pilot ship to stop the main vessel while Stargirl launches into space, showing off again (for all the right reason), and defeating/turning aside two escort vessels. They learn Lady Martuk is after a quantum item/artifact that may be on earth, this would help her get around other galaxies quickly. She wants the guardians off earth, hence all the space trouble. They return to earth to try and search for the item.
A few skrull are encountered on earth while digging in ruins in Mexico/Central America, Stargirl and Jack defeat them but nothing is revealed yet. As Ming approaches, the Skrull front is quiet for a time. Then, while getting new parts for their ship, the Guardians chance upon two skrulls in the form of Jack and Vance. They are pursued, defeated and questioned.
Ongoing
Bounty hunters continue to show up after them. They are not sure what Lady Martuk is after but have discovered a secondary plot involving Skrulls taking the likeness of members of the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Despero starts a plot to alter a potential future whereby he is defeated by Vance. Its a little muddled as to which future because Vance has already visited and adventured in the 30th Century, but its possibly another future prior to those future past adventures of Vance.
Outcomes
Early August, 2014 - Returned from the Prison Break out (See Lady Martuk Plotline), and after the Sharks of Metropolis, the heroes are en route to Gotham (something about a possible techno-wiz to wiz-up the Ship). Jack is mindzotted and forced to attack Vance and Stargirl - they easily keep Flag off his feet. It is revealed that Despero is after Vance, using Jack as his muscle or his bait. Despero escapes from Metropolis with Jack as his puppet.
The remaining duo go in search of a member of the serpent race of Thi-do-tek, who may have info on Despero or Jack, they visit the sewers. There they are interrupted by Death Head, also collecting on a Bounty against the Guardians. The robot is unaware of the power of Stargirl's forcefield, allowing the duo a chance to escape into dead space en route on the robot's ship.
Acquiring a ship, en route to find Jack, the discover Despero has launched Jack back to earth - his body the vessel of a deadly extinction level virus for the human population. Jack was used for this purpose due to his enhanced stamina and regenerative ability. The group arrives and Stargirl is joined by Power Woman, Caitlin Fairchild, and Kyani Kohona in stopping both the large pod from damaging the city, as well as assisting in getting Jack under containment and to individuals perhaps capable of stopping the virus.
Despero unheard of, the Guardians don't know what Jack has done. It seems he was used as muscle to unearth an ancient artifact that is used to light the Flame of Py'tarr. Starhawk arrives from the future, sensing this disturbance in the timeline, with a one use space/time portal to the Altar where the Flame is currently extinguished. The Guardians go and fight Despero along with Collapsar.
Despero is chased away from the altar, Collapsar is defeated and the temple collapsed over the object that holds the Flame. The torch to light the flame is given to Starhawk of the future for safe keeping.
